Global Learning Experiences
Tau Sigma National Honors Society
(Tau Sigma)
Tau Sigma National Honors Society is an honors society designed exclusively for transfer students. Since the honors society helps students build on their professional and leadership skills, I decided to seize the opportunity and run for office. I was elected Community Service Chair during the Fall of 2020. There I planned all the community service events and had to coordinate with other members of the e-board. During this time, I gained time management, communication, planning, teamwork, and leadership skills.
Women in Cybersecurity
(WiCyS)
I have been a member of WiCyS since I transferred to FIU in the Spring of 2020. Being a member of this organization has literally changed my life because of all the opportunities, support, and events offered. WiCyS serves young women in the tech/STEM industry and ensures that they are capable leaders and professional in their chosen industry.
Through this organization, I was able to attend my first in-person conference in 2021, where I enhanced my professional development, interpersonal, coding, and leadership skills.
Upsilon Pi Epsilon
(UPE)
Since I transferred to FIU, I have been a member of Upsilon Pi Epsilon. This honor society has allowed me to fully develop my technical skills and sufficiently prepared me for a career or to purse academia once I graduate from FIU.
Aside from the technical benefits, UPE has not only allowed me to further enhance my hard skills, but my soft ones too. Through all the events and opportunities, I have been able to ameliorate my communication, teamwork, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Transfer Ambassador Program (TAP)
As a junior in college, I was reached out by the Transfer Ambassador Program to be a mentor to incoming transfer students. I decided to partake in the program because I understand the value of mentorship and was looking to enhance and reinforce my leadership, communication, and mentorship skills. Throughout my time as a mentor, I was able to make a difference in several young student's life since the pandemic made college transfer student's transition a bit more challenging.
Tuesday Times Roundtable
(TTR)
Tuesday Times Roundtable is one of my favorite Global Learning Medallion events because of the interesting information they present to students. I always appreciated the diversity in guests speakers, as well as the topics. Every time I attend TTR, I always learn something new and leave inspired, motivated, and with a new perspective. These discussions and presentations offer students knowledge on a wide array of different topics, enhancing their idea of global citizenship.
